Funny you should mention it, technotuesday.

Shortly after writing the post, I realized (probably as I popped my earbuds in) that I forgot to list podcasting. I have subscriptions to a number of ed and non-ed podcasts, and that is usually what I listen to in the car. Perhaps it has just become so second nature to me, like all the rest is...

I would sggest you add a few podcasts to your repertoire of PLE's. My story s similar to yours, and after 22 years of teaching, i can still say I learn something new everyday, and I actually crave it. Can't gt enough! I can recommend a few podcasts too, and I really think you should visit EdTech Talks, a site that offers live webcasts where you can participate via Skype and/or chat. The programming on EdTech Talk is WONDERFUL Professional Development, and my absolute favorite is Tuesday nights at 9PM EST for the Women of Web 2.0. I don't always get to "tune in" live, but the good news is it is a published podcast too a few days after the show. Contact me if you'd like to know of the blogs I read or the podcasts/webcasts I listen and participate in. It can really rachet up your learning.

Wow, you said it so well! I hope your voice is heard. I wish that in our district we could be given credit for the 2.0 activities that we take on and learn on our own time. I would love to have further conversation about this! Great points and well stated.

It's nice to hear that teachers are embracing the changing technology. I am a non-traditional student working towards my teaching degree. I can't believe the way school has changed in 10 years and feel extremely overwhelmed at times. (I'm getting used to the dependency on my computer though.) I'm taking a Computers in Ed class right now and finding out all sorts of neat things that can/will be used in the classrooms of the future. It's amazing!

I plan on teaching biology and can't wait to be able to incorporate the technology into lessons. I think back to when I was in school and think how some things may have been so much easier if there had been some sort of visual, besides the book.

I hope that whatever district I teach in will be supportive of the technology and their teachers. It's a shame when the teachers are not prepared with the tools they are given to educate. Many of the kids entering school now are much more computer savvy than their teachers - it's kind of frightening. The administrators need to work on getting ahead of the kids related to the technology.
